Things I would like for you to know:
□ You will need to be responsible for keeping your things organized, participating in class, and keeping up with assignments.
□ We will be using textbooks, doing journal writing, labs and lab reports, and projects.
□ We make mistakes; that is how we learn. I want to see you always TRYING YOUR BEST …but if you make a mistake in class, chances are, that is OK. Even the best scientists made mistakes!
□ We work on our own, with partners, and in small groups!
□ We will use the library as well as the computer lab!
□ I expect your very best effort at all times and I will give you mine.
□ We like to have FUN in class and as long as the class continues to show that they can handle the responsibility of labs and activities, we will try to keep it as exciting and hands-on as possible!
□ Manners matter!! Please be polite to others at all times.
BE PREPARED:
Your planner should be with you at all times and filled out completely in order to best keep track of assignments. There is a spot on the front board where you can look to find your homework as well as the week’s plan. You will be responsible for filling out the week’s plan EVERY MONDAY.
GRADING:
There will be:
□ daily assignments to complete in class
□ homework 2-3 nights a week that should take 10-30 minutes to complete on average. (If you are spending much more than this on an assignment, we should work together to see why this is happening)
□ tests for units of study
□ pop quizzes as well as announced quizzes
□ effort counts as part of your grade
□ 6th grade grades at a 70/30 ratio. 70% of your overall grade will be based on assessments such as tests, quizzes, and projects. 30% will consist of daily work and homework.
□ There MAY be times when a student has an opportunity to make corrections to a Unit Test. This opportunity will depend on the unit that was studied, the type of unit test given, and teacher discretion.

Absent Work
If you are absent from school you are still required to complete the all of the chapters assignments. I have time after school or during your lunch period to answer any questions you might have over the material we covered. You have one day per day absent to make up this work.
